On 8 April, our executive director Jose Moragues Puga gave a talk in Valencia alongside Rafael Rueda Arriete on the Church of Our Lady of Loreto in Aduanas del Mar, Jávea, as part of the 2nd Congress on Public Works Heritage and Civil Engineering organised by the College of Civil Engineers of the Valencian Community.

The Church of Our Lady of Loreto is one of the most singular works of contemporary religious architecture in Spain. Conceived as a avant-garde piece, its exposed reinforced concrete structure does not merely support the building: it is the building. Twelve exterior pilasters, symbolising the apostles, hold up a roof that evokes the inverted hull of a vessel. The zenithal light, directed through perimeter skylights, shapes the interior space with an almost sculptural precision. Even the acoustics were conceived as part of the experience.

Built on site in the 1960s, at a time when concrete was not yet industrialised as it is today, the church represented a major technical and constructive milestone. A finalist for the National Architecture Prize and internationally recognised, it remains an outstanding example of structural honesty and beauty without artifice.

Singular Studio would like to thank the College of Civil Engineers of the Valencian Community for the invitation to take part in this congress.

The prestigious 2026 Pritzker Prize, considered the Nobel Prize of architecture, has been awarded to Chilean architect Smiljan Radić Clarke, a professional whose work is defined by a profound material sensibility, a deep respect for context, and a rare ability to create spaces that embrace imperfection as a virtue.

At Singular Studio, we celebrate the recognition of an architect who has built a radically personal practice from Santiago de Chile, proving that architecture does not need to be spectacular to be profound. His work is born from observation, from matter, and from an intimate relationship with place — generating spaces that invite you to pause and find your own voice.

Images from Casa Pite

Radić is known for understated structures that range from the modest — a bus shelter, an artist's studio — to the monumental, such as performing arts venues or a winery. What unites such disparate projects is not a recognisable style, but a way of approaching each commission through its purpose and its surroundings. Among his most notable works are the Pite House (2005, Papudo, Chile), a dwelling oriented to shelter from extreme wind and light; the House for the Poem of the Right Angle (2013, Vilches, Chile), a forest home conceived alongside his wife, sculptor Marcela Correa; the Teatro Regional del Biobío (2018, Concepción, Chile), a semi-translucent envelope that modulates light and favours acoustics through restraint; and the celebrated Serpentine Pavilion (2014, London), a translucent fibreglass shell resting on enormous local stones, transforming fragility into experience.

Images from House Poem.

Unlike many architects of his generation, Radić does not pursue aesthetic signature or monumentality as an end in itself. His buildings appear temporary, unstable or deliberately unfinished — almost on the verge of disappearing — and yet they provide a structured, quietly joyful shelter, embracing vulnerability as an intrinsic condition of lived experience. This is precisely the paradox that defines his work: fragility as strength, imperfection as honesty.

In 2017 he founded the Fundación de Arquitectura Frágil to support experimental architecture that challenges disciplinary boundaries. His influence extends beyond built practice into architectural thought, reminding us that the boundaries between disciplines are permeable and that the most powerful architecture is often the one that least needs to justify itself.

This prize is a recognition of an architecture that does not speak on behalf of people, but allows them to find their own voice through it. The work of Smiljan Radić Clarke reminds us that building well is not building more, but building with greater awareness, greater attentiveness, and greater respect for what already exists

A delegation from Singular Studio, led by Jose Moragues (architect and executive director) alongside architects Ana Jiménez and Sara Marí, attended the Cerámica Night Experience 2026. This exclusive evening event, organised by the Pamesa Cerámica Group as part of its annual ‘Cerámica Experience’ trade fair, has established itself as one of the most important social and professional events in the sector at a national level.

The event, which broke records this year by bringing together 3,500 professionals from the world of architecture, design and interior design, was held in a spectacular setting: the Roig Arena in Valencia. Under the slogan ‘A week to shine’, the evening offered an immersive experience that combined the technical innovation of new ceramic materials with high-level staging, live music and cutting-edge cuisine.

The members of the studio participated in this key event thanks to the invitation from Ferrcos (Pedreguer, Alicante), a trusted partner of Singular Studio, thus strengthening ties with local suppliers who are committed to excellence and innovation in building materials.

The architecture world bids farewell to Frank Gehry, one of the most influential, daring, and transformative figures of the past decades. His passing marks the end of an era that redefined the relationship between form, technology, and emotion in contemporary architecture.

Gehry was a creator who resisted categorization. From his early houses in California to global icons such as the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the Dancing House in Prague, and the Philharmonie de Paris, his work continually pushed the boundaries of what architecture could be. His architectural language broke away from convention to explore a realm where volumes fold, ripple, and fragment—as if buildings could capture a moment in motion.

Beyond their formal boldness, Gehry’s buildings were conceived as lived experiences. They do more than impress; they provoke emotion, spark curiosity, and propose new ways of engaging with space. His pioneering use of titanium, digital modeling, and experimental processes paved the way for a new generation of architects who saw technology as a tool to expand creative expression.

At Singular Studio, we particularly admire his ability to combine artistic intuition with technical rigor. Gehry demonstrated that architecture can be courageous without sacrificing precision, emotional without losing functionality, and profoundly contemporary while remaining connected to cultural context.

With his passing, the profession loses an irreplaceable master, but his legacy endures—continuing to inspire those of us who believe in architecture as a discipline capable of transforming, moving, and questioning established norms.

From here, we express our recognition and gratitude for a body of work that is now an essential part of architectural history.

During the debate, which brought together leading professionals from the sector, the main challenges posed by the arrival of these new technologies were addressed. Moragues offered an optimistic and pragmatic vision, defending AI as “an opportunity rather than a threat.” In his speech, our executive director recalled that, although it is natural to feel respect for disruptive changes, architecture has overcome and assimilated numerous technological advances throughout its history. The key, he concluded, lies in “adapting to it and taking advantage of it as a useful tool” to enhance creativity and efficiency in projects. At Singular Studio, we would like to thank Porcelanosa for the invitation and for creating spaces for dialogue that are so necessary for the future of our profession.

The article, written by journalist Marina Vega, is entitled “The couple who live in this house get excited when talking about it: this is what this brutalist house in Jávea, made of exposed concrete and limestone, is like.” It highlights that “just a few minutes from the port of Jávea, perched on a hill, we find Casa Helena, a project by the Singular Studio architecture firm: Jean Claude and Helena's dream brought to life in exposed concrete and natural limestone sourced from the same land.”

Yesterday, Thursday 23rd October, we enjoyed the Team Building event organised by our friends at Tucan Feel for our team. We spent the day walking the route to the Cova Tallada cave in Jávea via the Torre del Gerro tower, with the added excitement of having to leave the cave due to the waves. During the walk, we took part in several fun and interesting group activities. Finally, we all had lunch together to conclude this fantastic day.

A few days ago, we spent a lovely morning at the Open House of Casa Helena, a house designed by our studio and located in Puerto de Jávea. An event in which, with the collaboration of the Alicante Regional Association of Architects, we were able to enjoy a visit to the house designed by our studio. And we did so thanks to the ever-so-kind owners: Helena and Jean-Claude. We would also like to thank the architects and friends who came along and took the time to share their passion for architecture with us. In particular, we had the opportunity to explain the process that led to Casa Helena becoming a reality. Thank you all for coming. Below you can see some photos of the event and the video posted on our Instagram account.
